Here is some more insight for all those interested...

Here is a little more information about my uncle's situation. The profile has a word limit so it was difficult to get all the information I wanted in it. This is essentially stolen from my Aunt Maggy (hope you don't mind Maggy!)

...Ethan (Yongmin) Chon, 36 years old, has been battling cancer since 2006. On February 9, 2006, we discovered that he had ‘Stage 3B Gastric Cancer,’ and he had surgery to remove his stomach. After the surgery he went on a grueling round of chemotherapy and radiation treatments for six months. Good news came after chemo that the cancer was gone, and he was on his way to recovery and a return to a normal life. Eating was still challenging, but his faith in God and his spirit was good.

On 9/12/06 he was blessed with some more good news, his daughter Tabitha was born. However, in April 2007, devastating news came. The cancer had returned, and this time, it was bone metastasis in almost every bone in his body. His right hip and legs were starting to hurt. He was hospitalized for destabilized blood and bleeding urine. The cancer level in his body had shot up so high that he had to start another chemo cycle immediately. He also now needs Zomata shots once a month for his bones. Finally, ten cycles of chemo ended in September 2007 with the wonderful news that his cancer level had greatly decreased, and the bone metastasis lesions were dramatically reduced. Now he will be on maintenance chemo (oral chemo pills) for the rest of his life. Since October 2007, he has been struggling with pains in his right hip, rear, leg, and foot, and his doctors have discovered that the pains are related to sciatica. He has been on many kinds of pain medication, but they have given him very little relief. Also, in December, his cancer level went up again indicating that he needed to start chemo again. Currently, his pain from sciatica is so severe that he cannot even stand for more than a few minutes, and adding chemo on top of it is making it unbearable for him to function. Throughout the past year, even with the ups and downs of his physical condition, he always had a positive attitude, incredible faith in God, and his willingness to fight this cancer has been amazing. He has a very loving, strong, and supportive wife, Anne, and three beautiful kids: Nathan (6), Joel (4), & Tabitha (1). He tries to work as much as he can to support his family, but his physical condition is keeping him away from work.

Since many people have asked if there is any way to financially assist him, a fund has been established to help with the expenses of Ethan’s journey as well as this Blog. So feel free to leave comments or make a donation if you like. At the very least, we ask that you please pass this on to those that may be interested in helping. Thank you.

Happy Birthday Nathan!

I hope you are feeling better today. Give Nathan a big Happy Birthday kiss for me.
